It is an understatement to say that hopes are high on the next generation Volkswagen Golf. The general public is waiting for it like the next James Bond movie. VW’ best seller in Europe plays the perfect role of a family car and a the perfect companion to drive through twisty roads over the weekend.

Having attained a legendary status in the VW family and among internationally best-selling hatches, the successor is taking rapid shape under the watchful eyes of its creator Walter de Silva. de Silva once said he lost sleep at night thinking about the shift in the Golf’s design.

On getting a sneak preview of an alleged clay models of the 2013 VW Golf (dubbed Golf 7) in a VW design video, we have more information to share on the same. Recently published photographs of Golf 7 prototypes indicate that the car will grow in length and breadth.

The new VW Golf 7 sits on the “modular transverse matrix” (MQB) architecture kit of the Volkswagen Group expected to add dynamism to the Golf’s handling. Sharper headlights, sleek skirts, and a marginally narrow grille are other design elements expected on the successor.

Volkswagen’s bread-and butter model will debut in early 2013 featuring an interior layout of the new Beetle. Hybrid and electric powertrains are being considered, but to start with, the Golf will rely on petrol and diesel engines fitted with a turbocharger.
